Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali has publicly expressed his strong support for Luciano Spalletti following the painful 3–2 defeat to Sassuolo. The setback in Reggio Emilia sparked the first serious debate over the coach’s responsibility, but a clear message has arrived from the top of Juventus: the club is not currently considering a change in the dugout.
Speaking to “Radio Anch’io Sport” on Radio Rai, Carnevali stressed that Spalletti remains a central part of the project and must be given time.

The Bianconeri director did not hide his disappointment after the defeat, but rejected the idea that the problems should be addressed by making a quick managerial change.
“Spalletti is an exceptional coach, one of the best. Changing the coach is not in my nature. We must plan and build, give him time and be patient,” Carnevali said.
His words represent the strongest show of support Spalletti has received from the Juventus hierarchy following the club’s first league defeat of the season.
JUVENTUS MUST “SWALLOW SOME BITTER PILLS”
Carnevali acknowledged that building a new Juventus will not be possible without difficulties, poor results and disappointment. He stressed that the club must remain committed to its chosen path even when results do not meet expectations.
“We will have to swallow some bitter pills, but later we will have reasons to be satisfied. Football is made up of cycles, periods when you are at the top and others when you face difficulties and must find a way out.”
The message from the club’s management is that one defeat will not alter the direction of the project, although the Bianconeri must respond quickly on the pitch.
CARNEVALI REVEALS WHAT HE SAW IN THE DEFEAT
The Juventus director believes that, despite making serious mistakes against Sassuolo, the team showed a desire to fight for victory until the final whistle.
According to Carnevali, the problem arose when Juventus lost their balance in pursuit of the win and allowed their opponents too much space.
“We made mistakes that Juventus cannot afford to make, but we also created chances. We tried to win at all costs, and because of that we lost our balance against a quality team.”
Sassuolo punished that approach in the closing stages and handed Juventus their first defeat of the new season.
JUVENTUS HAVE ONLY ONE OBJECTIVE
Despite the difficulties and the blow of defeat, Carnevali insists that the club’s ambitions have not changed. Given their history and stature, Juventus must always aim for the highest goals.
“The objective of a club like Juventus is to win. Words mean little; I only believe in working methods. We have to work,” the leading figure in the Bianconeri’s operational structure emphasised.
Carnevali therefore made it clear that the Old Lady will not give up the fight for trophies, although he also asked for time to develop the team.
SPALLETTI RECEIVES SUPPORT - AND A CLEAR RESPONSIBILITY
Carnevali’s statement shows that the Juventus hierarchy is not currently considering dismissing Luciano Spalletti. The Italian coach has been given the confidence to continue his work and find solutions to the problems exposed in Reggio Emilia.
However, that support does not mean results are no longer important. Spalletti is expected to stabilise the team, correct its defensive weaknesses and quickly guide Juventus back to winning ways.
The message from the top is therefore twofold: there will be no panic-driven decisions after one defeat, but winning remains a fundamental obligation at Juventus.
