Juventus had the opportunity to make serious money from the sale of Vasilije Adžić during the summer, but the decision in Turin was different – the Montenegrin international was not sold. Instead, he was sent to Sassuolo to get what he needs most at this stage of his career: regular minutes, continuity and responsibility on the pitch. Information published by Fabrizio Romano indicates that Juventus did not want to lose control of one of their biggest young talents.
And only a few weeks later, the results are beginning to show why. Adžić is scoring goals in Serie A, he has already found the net against Juventus themselves, and he has now starred for Montenegro as well.
JUVENTUS REJECTED MONEY FROM THE BUNDESLIGA – ADŽIĆ WAS NOT FOR SALE
According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus had the opportunity during the summer transfer window to sell Adžić permanently to a Bundesliga club for a significant fee.
Instead of taking the immediate financial reward, the Bianconeri chose the player’s development.
Adžić joined Sassuolo on loan, with the official agreement reportedly including a €500,000 loan fee and a €12 million purchase option. But Juventus also included a crucial safeguard in the deal.
THE KEY DETAIL: JUVENTUS CAN BRING ADŽIĆ BACK FOR JUST €1.7 MILLION
If Sassuolo activates the purchase option, Juventus have the right to exercise a €1.7 million buy-back clause at the end of the season. In other words, the final decision over Adžić’s future effectively remains in the hands of the Bianconeri. That completely changes the way his summer departure should be viewed.
Juventus did not simply let him go – they created a deal that allows Adžić to play regularly while keeping the club in control of his future. Juventus can monitor his development throughout the season and then decide whether they want him back in Turin.
ADŽIĆ EXPLODES AT SASSUOLO – 3 GOALS IN HIS FIRST 5 SERIE A APPEARANCES
And his start to the season could hardly have been better. The 20-year-old midfielder scored three goals in his first five Serie A appearances, starting three of those matches. He needed only 221 minutes to produce those three goals. That means he is currently scoring approximately once every 74 minutes in the league. He has found the net against Bologna, Juventus and Monza.
THE MOST PAINFUL ONE FOR JUVENTUS – A 94TH-MINUTE WINNER AGAINST THE BIANCONERI
A special moment came on September 13. Sassuolo faced Juventus, and Adžić scored deep into stoppage time to give his new club a dramatic victory over his parent club. It was the perfect example of why regular playing time was so important for the young Montenegrin. After the match, Adžić spoke about the emotions surrounding the goal and the occasion.
“This night and this goal brought me unforgettable emotions.”
For Juventus, it was another reminder of exactly what they have in their hands.
For Sassuolo, it was proof that the decision to give Adžić responsibility is already paying off.
THEN CAME THE MONTENEGRO SHOW – TWO GOALS FOR THE WIN!
If Juventus needed another reason to believe that Adžić’s development is heading in the right direction, they got it on October 2 in Riga. Montenegro defeated Latvia 2–1, with both goals scored by Vasilije Adžić. His first came as early as the 3rd minute, when he received the ball inside the penalty area and calmly finished the move.
His second, in the 56th minute, was completely different. After the ball fell to him following a deflection, Adžić unleashed a powerful strike to make it 2–0. Montenegro held on for a 2–1 victory, and Adžić was without question the hero of the night.
FIVE GOALS FOR CLUB AND COUNTRY – ADŽIĆ IS SENDING A MESSAGE TO JUVENTUS
The numbers from the last few weeks are particularly impressive:
3 goals for Sassuolo in Serie A + 2 goals for Montenegro against Latvia. Five goals that show Adžić is no longer simply a young talent talked about because of his potential.
He is starting to make a concrete impact at senior level. It is still too early to draw definitive conclusions, and his consistency over the entire season will ultimately determine what happens next. But his start could hardly have been better.
JUVENTUS MADE A SMART MOVE – NOW EVERYTHING IS UP TO ADŽIĆ
Perhaps the most important part of the entire story is not what Adžić is doing today, but what Juventus can do tomorrow. The Bianconeri could have taken the money and closed the chapter.
Instead, they gave the 20-year-old an opportunity to play regularly while retaining a mechanism that allows them to bring him back.
Sassuolo officially confirmed that the agreement runs until June 30, 2027, with a purchase option and a Juventus buy-back option. And if Adžić continues at this pace, the question may no longer be whether Juventus will want him back – but when they will bring him back.
