Juventus have officially confirmed the return of Brazilian goalkeeper Norberto Murara Neto, who will wear the black-and-white shirt once again after nine years. The experienced goalkeeper arrived in Turin as a free agent, successfully completed his medical examinations at the J|Medical center, and subsequently signed his contract with the Bianconeri. Juventus confirmed his arrival on their official website.
GRABARA'S INJURY ACCELERATED NETO'S RETURN
Juventus were forced to act quickly following the serious injury suffered by Kamil Grabara, who underwent surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is expected to be sidelined for several months. Neto is expected to provide an experienced alternative to first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. His advantage is that he already knows the club, Italian football, and the pressure that comes with playing for Juventus.
The Brazilian previously played for the Bianconeri from 2015 to 2017, when he served as the backup to legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. During that period, he made 22 appearances in all competitions and kept 12 clean sheets. With Juventus, he won two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia trophies and one Italian Super Cup.
NINE YEARS LATER, BACK IN TURIN
After leaving Juventus, Neto went on to play for Valencia, Barcelona, Bournemouth, Arsenal and Botafogo. Following the end of his spell in Brazil, he remained a free agent, allowing Juventus to sign him even after the summer transfer window had closed.
His return represents an experienced short-term solution to the problem created by Grabara's injury. Neto is immediately available to Luciano Spalletti and begins his second chapter in the black-and-white shirt. Nine years after leaving, a familiar face is back between the posts for Juventus.
