UNOFFICIAL: GIANNI AGNELLI’S GRANDDAUGHTER SET TO BECOME JUVENTUS PRESIDENT!

A Major Change Is Coming at the Top of Juventus

Juventus could soon have a new female president. According to information from reliable Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, the club’s ownership structure has selected Ginevra Elkann as the successor to Gianluca Ferrero. If the announced change is confirmed, Juventus will be headed by the granddaughter of legendary industrialist Gianni Agnelli, the daughter of Margherita Agnelli and Alain Elkann, and the younger sister of John and Lapo Elkann. Juventus has yet to issue an official statement, which means the information must currently be treated as unofficial. More details are expected to emerge after the completion of the planned corporate procedure.

Who Is Ginevra Elkann?

Ginevra Elkann was born on September 24, 1979, in London. She grew up between the United Kingdom, France and Brazil, and is today professionally connected to Rome and Turin. She studied visual communications at the American University of Paris before completing a master’s degree in film directing at the London Film School. Unlike her brother John, who built his career in the automotive industry, investments and corporate management, Ginevra has focused primarily on film, art and culture.

From Bertolucci and Minghella to Her Own Production Company

At the beginning of her professional career, she worked for Knopf Publishing in New York and the film studio Miramax in London. She worked as an assistant to legendary Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci during the production of Besieged, as well as to Anthony Minghella on The Talented Mr. Ripley. She later launched her own projects. She founded the production company Caspian Films, was involved in establishing the distribution company Good Films, and today serves as president of the production company Asmara Films. As a director, she made her feature-film debut with Magari, for which she received a nomination for the David di Donatello Award in the Best New Director category. She also directed Te l’avevo detto.

An Important Role Within EXOR

Although the public primarily knows Ginevra Elkann for her work in the film industry, she has for years also had experience in the management of major companies and international institutions.

Since 2017, she has served on the Board of Directors of EXOR, the family investment company that is the majority owner of Juventus. At EXOR, she holds the position of non-executive director, meaning that she participates in oversight, corporate governance and long-term strategic decision-making.

She is president of the Giovanni and Marella Agnelli Art Gallery in Turin and is also involved with companies and institutions such as Christie’s, Fondation Cartier, Christian Louboutin and the American Academy in Rome. She was also appointed as an independent member of the Board of Directors of the French luxury group Kering, owner of brands such as Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta.

How Could Ginevra Help Juventus?

Her greatest value would probably not lie in making day-to-day sporting decisions. Ginevra has no previous experience running a football club, which is why coaching, transfers and squad building would be expected to remain under the responsibility of the general director and sporting department. Her role could be particularly important in strengthening the connection between Juventus and EXOR.

As a member of the family and a long-standing member of the majority owner’s board, she would represent a direct link between the club and the people making the most important ownership decisions. Ginevra’s arrival could also help Juventus commercially. Her experience in film, art, culture and the luxury industry could be useful in developing Juventus as a global sports brand, attracting new partners and creating a more modern identity for the club beyond the football pitch.

The Change Comes at a Crucial Financial Moment

The news about Ginevra Elkann’s possible appointment emerged on the same day that Juventus’ Board of Directors approved the financial report for the financial year ending June 30, 2026.

Juventus recorded a loss of approximately €66 million, while a new capital increase was also proposed. According to the plan presented, EXOR would immediately provide €60 million.

For that reason, Ginevra’s possible appointment would not necessarily represent merely a symbolic decision. It could signal that the family wants more direct oversight of the club’s financial stabilisation process and future development.

Does This Mean the Return of the Agnellis?

In a symbolic sense - yes. In terms of ownership, the family never actually left Juventus.

The Agnelli family has remained the club’s majority owner through EXOR, while John Elkann retained a key role in strategic decision-making even after Andrea Agnelli’s departure.

However, following Andrea Agnelli’s resignation and the resignation of the entire Board of Directors at the end of 2022, the position of president went to Gianluca Ferrero.

He took over the role in January 2023, during one of the most difficult institutional periods in the club’s recent history. Ginevra’s arrival would mean that a member of the Agnelli-Elkann family once again becomes the official face of Juventus and takes on the most important institutional position at the club.

Do Not Expect a Copy of Andrea Agnelli

The appointment of Ginevra would not automatically mean a return to the management model of the Andrea Agnelli era. Andrea was a highly operational president, deeply involved in football policy, transfers and relations with Europe’s most important clubs and organisations.

Based on her professional experience so far, Ginevra would more likely be a strategic and institutional president.

Her role could involve protecting the club’s identity, representing the ownership, overseeing long-term development and strengthening Juventus internationally and commercially.

Sporting management would be expected to remain in the hands of the people appointed to run the club on a day-to-day basis.

A Surname That Changes the Atmosphere Around the Club

Ginevra Elkann does not come from the football world, but she carries a surname that has enormous historical and emotional significance at Juventus. Her possible appointment would send a clear message that EXOR remains committed to Juventus and that the family wants a more visible presence within the club. At the same time, the €60 million capital commitment shows that behind the symbolic return there is also a concrete financial commitment from the majority owner.

However, a final assessment of her influence will only be possible once the composition of the new Board of Directors, the division of responsibilities and the complete management structure become known. For now, the most important point is this: Moretto has reported Ginevra Elkann as the future president, but Juventus has yet to officially confirm the appointment.
