Di Gregorio gives Bournemouth the green light
Michele Di Gregorio could leave Juventus very soon and continue his career in the Premier League.
According to the latest information from Gianluca Di Marzio, Bournemouth have made a serious step towards signing the Italian goalkeeper, and what matters most is that Di Gregorio has given his consent to the potential transfer.
The ball is now in the clubs' court.
Juventus and Bournemouth are working on a final agreement over the financial structure of the deal, and the current talks concern a loan with an option to buy.
According to the details accompanying Di Marzio's report, the value of the option for a permanent transfer should be around 15 million euros.
So at this moment the formula on the table is:
a loan plus an option to buy for approximately 15 million euros.
It is important to stress that the transfer is not officially completed yet.
England becomes a realistic option
Bournemouth represent a very interesting way out of a situation that has grown complicated for Di Gregorio in recent weeks.
Juventus changed their goalkeeping plans over the summer, while the keeper himself spoke publicly in early July about the difficult situation that had formed around him.
Back then he distanced himself from his agents' harsh statements about Juventus, but made it clear that as long as he is a Bianconeri player he would treat the club and his teammates with professionalism. Sky also reported at the time that possible exit routes would be considered during the transfer window.
Now, for the first time, a Premier League option has emerged concrete enough for the player to have already given it the green light.
Marseille failed to reach an agreement with Juventus
Before Bournemouth there was serious talk of Marseille. According to Nicolo Schira, Juventus were even prepared to allow a loan without a fee provided the French club took on Di Gregorio's full salary. The problem arose when Marseille, per the same source, asked Juventus to keep covering at least half of the goalkeeper's wages.
The deal did not progress because of that.
Lazio and a return to Monza were also mentioned, but none of those options reached the level Bournemouth are at now.
Juventus ready to close the chapter
Di Gregorio joined Juventus from Monza in 2024. The operation initially involved a loan worth 4.5 million euros, after which a 13.5 million buy-out was activated, plus additional costs and possible bonuses. His contract with Juventus runs until 30 June 2029.
Interestingly, he was still playing for Juventus this summer. In early August he featured in the friendly win over Chelsea in Hong Kong before being replaced at half-time by Mattia Perin.
The situation, however, has since changed completely.
The arrival of Guglielmo Vicario changed the hierarchy between the posts, while Juventus are also resolving Perin's future.
Bournemouth now wait for an agreement with Juventus
The most important part of the whole story is that, according to Di Marzio, there are no more obstacles on the player's side. Di Gregorio is open to Bournemouth and to continuing his career in the Premier League.
It remains for Juventus and the English club to define the terms of the loan and the potential buy-out. If the figure of around 15 million euros is confirmed, Bournemouth would get the chance to keep the Italian goalkeeper permanently after the loan.
