Di Gregorio remains a talking point at Juventus
Michele Di Gregorio’s future has once again become a talking point at Juventus. According to Nicolò Schira, there are currently no clubs actively pursuing the goalkeeper, while rumours of a possible move to Torino have not been confirmed by either the club or the player’s representatives.
The situation has become particularly interesting following the pre-season period, during which Di Gregorio has not always provided the level of security expected from Juventus’ first-choice goalkeeper.
In the friendly against Inter, which Juventus lost 2-1, Di Gregorio looked uncertain for both goals. After the match, Luciano Spalletti publicly suggested that the second goal was one the goalkeeper perhaps could have saved.
Arsenal and Kepa - an idea that did not materialise
According to Schira, there was also a potential operation involving Arsenal.
Under that scenario, Di Gregorio would have moved to Arsenal as their second-choice goalkeeper, while Juventus would have received Kepa Arrizabalaga in return.
However, the Spanish goalkeeper reportedly failed to convince the Juventus management, and the idea did not progress any further.
Therefore, as things stand, there is no concrete transfer involving Di Gregorio.
Last season was not entirely negative
It is important to distinguish between general impressions and the statistics.
Di Gregorio made 30 Serie A appearances in the 2025/26 season, conceding 25 goals, making 61 saves and keeping 13 clean sheets. In the Champions League, he made six appearances, recording 20 saves while conceding 11 goals.
His problems during this year’s pre-season have added further doubts. Following the defeat to Inter, his performance came under significant criticism, while Spalletti himself suggested that the goalkeeper could have reacted better to the second goal.
What will Juventus do now?
At this stage, there is no confirmation that Juventus have decided to sell Di Gregorio.
The club have been linked with other goalkeepers during the summer, while the fact that alternative options have been considered suggests that the first-choice goalkeeper position may not be completely settled.
Di Gregorio therefore enters the final part of pre-season under considerably more pressure than he was facing only a few months ago.
With the new season approaching, one key question remains: will Juventus continue to put their faith in Di Gregorio, or will they attempt to sign a new first-choice goalkeeper before the transfer window closes?
