Juventus have submitted to UEFA the list of players Luciano Spalletti will be able to count on during the league phase of the Europa League. List A contains 22 players, while Kenan Yildiz and five other young players have been registered via List B.
The biggest talking point is the omission of Edon Zhegrova, while Federico Gatti has been included in the European squad after Juventus rejected an offer from Porto.
Juventus' Europa League squad list
The following 22 players are on List A:
Goalkeepers: Guglielmo Vicario, Kamil Grabara and Carlo Pinsoglio.
Defenders: Zeki Çelik, Juan Cabal, Gleison Bremer, Federico Gatti, Lloyd Kelly, Pierre Kalulu, Andrea Cambiaso and Jhon Lucumí.
Midfielders: Manuel Locatelli, Teun Koopmeiners, Douglas Luiz, Weston McKennie and Pape Matar Sarr.
Forwards: Francisco Conceição, Randal Kolo Muani, Jérémie Boga, Nico Gonzalez, Nick Woltemade and Kerim Alajbegovic.
In putting the list together, Juventus had to comply with UEFA rules under which certain places are reserved for club-trained players and for players who came through the same national association.
Zhegrova among the five left out
Edon Zhegrova, Daniele Rugani, Arkadiusz Milik, Jeff Ekhator and Kefren Thuram are not on the squad list for the league phase of the Europa League.
Thuram has been left off the list because of a serious problem with his right knee and the lengthy lay-off awaiting him after surgery. Zhegrova's situation is different and sends a clear signal about his current standing in the squad.
Al-Ittihad have shown interest in the winger, but there is still no confirmation that the Saudi club have submitted an official written offer or that a transfer agreement has been reached. Nevertheless, his omission from the European squad list further opens the door to a departure while the Saudi Arabian market remains open.
Yildiz registered via List B
Kenan Yildiz has not been left out of the European squad, even though his name does not appear on List A. Juventus have registered the Turkey international via List B, which is intended for young players who meet UEFA's requirements regarding age and time spent at the club. This allows Juventus to keep a place free on the main list, while Yildiz retains the right to play in the Europa League. Alongside Yildiz, List B also includes Radu, Owusu, Huli, Durmisi and Elimoghale.
Yildiz is currently recovering from surgery on a fractured fifth metatarsal in his left foot, but once he returns he will be able to play in the European competition without restrictions.
Juventus rejected Porto's offer for Gatti
Unlike Zhegrova, Federico Gatti is on the European squad list and should remain at Juventus at least until January. According to Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, Porto offered to take the Italian centre-back on loan with an option to buy for 18 million euros. Juventus did not accept the proposed terms, after which the negotiations were broken off.
The clubs have not officially disclosed the details of the talks, so the structure and the amount of the offer should be treated as a media report. However, Gatti's inclusion on the Europa League list confirms that Spalletti is currently counting on him.
