Injury problems continue to complicate the situation at Juventus. Luciano Spalletti was hoping for good news from today's training session, but Weston McKennie, Andrea Cambiaso and Pape Matar Sarr have still not managed to rejoin the rest of the squad.
According to Sport Mediaset, all three continued with individual programmes again today, which is why their appearance against Sassuolo remains a big question mark. This is a particularly awkward moment for Juventus, given the large number of players already out of action.
THREE STILL TRAINING SEPARATELY
The initial expectation was that McKennie, Cambiaso and Sarr could gradually return to group work this week and make themselves available to Spalletti. However, today's session did not bring the expected progress.
Sport Mediaset reports that all three once again worked separately from the rest of the team. With the Sassuolo match approaching, there is less and less time for a full recovery. The final decision will be made after the next training sessions, but at this point their appearance cannot be considered certain.
SPALLETTI RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS
The situation is especially worrying because of the squad problems Juventus already have. Manuel Locatelli has undergone surgery on the lateral meniscus of his right knee and faces months on the sidelines, while Jérémie Boga suffered a moderate injury to the biceps femoris of his left thigh.
Juventus therefore already have to look for alternative solutions, especially in midfield, and a possible absence of three more players would narrow Spalletti's choices even further.
Precisely because of the large number of absentees, young Augusto Owusu is getting more and more attention and could be given extra room in the first team.
ALL EYES ON THE NEXT SESSION
The next training session could be crucial for Cambiaso, McKennie and Sarr.
If at least some of the three rejoin group work, Spalletti could include them in the squad for Sassuolo. Otherwise, Juventus will once again have to find solutions with a significantly weakened line-up. After a string of injuries at the start of the season, the fitness of the squad is becoming one of the biggest concerns of the Bianconeri coaching staff ahead of the rest of the campaign.
