Juventus in Lockdown, History Calls for Caution.

Juventus are turning to a measure designed to shake things up ahead of their clash with Napoli: a team training camp with players staying together in isolation. Luciano Spalletti wants to restore concentration, strengthen the dressing-room bond and get a reaction following the disappointing defeat in Genoa.

The Bianconeri will remain together and prepare for an important test at the Allianz Stadium until Sunday’s match, November 1. However, as Tuttosport points out, previous examples show that this approach can produce an immediate response, but it does not guarantee a lasting escape from a crisis.

Motta Got a Reaction, But Then Suffered a Heavy Collapse

Thiago Motta gathered the squad for a training camp in early March 2025 ahead of the match against Verona. Juventus won that encounter 2-0, briefly raising hopes that the team could finally build some consistency.

However, heavy defeats against Atalanta and Fiorentina followed. The initial reaction failed to develop into stability, and Motta was soon out of a job. That episode remained a warning that one victory, even after bringing the entire squad together, does not mean the underlying problems have been solved.

Tudor’s Training Camp Brought a Better End to the Season

Igor Tudor also brought the players together for a training camp shortly after arriving at Juventus in March 2025. His first steps were marked by a 1-0 victory over Genoa. According to the review published by Tuttosport, Juventus subsequently finished their final eight league matches with four wins, three draws and one defeat.

The end of the season was more positive, but even that period failed to provide long-term stability. Tudor left the managerial position in October 2025, when he was replaced by Spalletti.

Allegri Used the Same Approach Before Facing Genoa

Massimiliano Allegri also turned to a team training camp during his time at Juventus. In March 2024, the Bianconeri went into isolation ahead of their match against Genoa.

Spalletti’s decision therefore represents a return to a familiar approach: stepping away from everyday distractions and directing the team’s full attention towards training, teammates and the upcoming opponent. However, the effectiveness of such a measure ultimately depends on what the players deliver once they step onto the pitch.

Spalletti Needs a Change That Will Last

The most important thing for Juventus now is for this training camp to deliver more than just a short-term emotional boost. Against Napoli, the Bianconeri need determination, mutual support and greater consistency throughout the entire match.

The training camp provides time for discussions and preparation. The answer to whether Juventus are truly ready to change direction will arrive on Sunday at the Allianz Stadium.
