Perin open to Palermo, Juventus soften their stance
A major twist could be brewing between the posts at Juventus just days before the start of the new season. According to Romeo Agresti, Palermo have presented Mattia Perin with an attractive multi-year offer, and the experienced goalkeeper has given his consent to a possible move to Sicily. For Perin the biggest attraction would be a clear role as first-choice goalkeeper and the chance to get regular football between the posts again.
Juventus, however, were not keen to let him go easily. Luciano Spalletti sees Perin as the ideal second goalkeeper, not only because of his experience and reliability but also because of the leadership role he plays inside the dressing room. That is why in recent days the club even considered offering the 33-year-old goalkeeper a one-year contract extension.
The situation, however, is now changing.
According to the latest information from Sky Sport Italia, Juventus have lowered their financial demands towards Palermo, raising optimism that the deal could go through after all.
In other words, Juventus are no longer closing the door on Perin's departure.
Why did Juventus change their stance?
Money could be the key to the whole story. Agresti previously reported that Juventus did not want to let Perin go unless an offer arrived that was financially significant enough to be hard to refuse.
Now Sky report that it is Juventus who have taken a step towards Palermo by lowering their demands.
Perin is under contract with Juventus until 2027, and his market situation and age mean this may be one of the club's last chances to earn a fee from his transfer. Palermo, on the other hand, can offer him what Juventus hardly can: the number one spot.
Juventus' problem is called Di Gregorio
Marseille are not the only club monitoring the situation.
Schira reports that Lazio have also asked about Di Gregorio, but that the internal uncertainty at the Roman club currently makes that option less attractive to the goalkeeper himself.
A possible return to Monza has also been mentioned, but that option does not appear to particularly appeal to Di Gregorio at the moment either.
There is also a potential option from England, but it remains to be seen whether it will actually materialise.
That Di Gregorio's future has been in question for some time was also shown by his absence from the traditional match against Juventus Next Gen, even though illness was officially cited as the reason at the time.
Vicario first choice - who will be his backup?
With the arrival of Guglielmo Vicario, Juventus solved the question of their new number one, but there is now a chance the club could lose both of its previous goalkeepers in the final stretch of the window.
If both Perin and Di Gregorio leave Turin, Juventus will have to find a new goalkeeper to serve as Vicario's alternative.
And that is where a very interesting name comes in.
Audero back at Juventus?
According to Sky Sport, Juventus are considering bringing back Emil Audero should Perin and Di Gregorio both depart.
Audero came through Juventus' own youth academy, which makes his potential return particularly interesting because of squad list rules as well. As a club-trained player, he could fill a very useful home-grown slot for Juventus. Further confirmation that his name really is circulating around the Continassa came from Nicolo Schira, who reports that Audero has been offered to Juventus precisely as a possible replacement for Perin.
That is why Audero can currently be considered a realistic option, not just media speculation.
The final days of August could therefore bring a real domino effect between the posts and a completely new Juventus goalkeeping hierarchy for the 2026/27 season.
