JUVENTUS CHANGES SYSTEM: Carnevali’s Man Emerges as Leading Candidate for Key Role in Turin

Juventus are continuing with the changes designed to lay the foundations for a new sporting project. Following changes in the club’s management and the announcement of major financial backing from the owners, the Bianconeri are now also looking to reorganize the department responsible for identifying new players.

According to Tuttosport, the leading candidate for an important role in the player recruitment department is Davide Cangini, a man who spent years working at Sassuolo and knows Giovanni Carnevali’s methods very well.

CANGINI IN POLE POSITION TO JOIN JUVENTUS

According to Tuttosport, Cangini is currently in pole position among the candidates for the new role in Turin. No official agreement has been reached yet, but the Italian newspaper reports that Juventus could make a concrete approach in the coming period.

His potential arrival would represent another step in the reorganization of the sporting department, with the aim of creating a modern and more efficient structure for identifying potential reinforcements.

YEARS OF WORKING WITH CARNEVALI AT SASSUOLO

Cangini is particularly interesting to Juventus because of the experience he gained at Sassuolo. From 2020 until the summer of 2026, he served as the club’s head of scouting, working within the structure led by Giovanni Carnevali.

Over the past several years, Sassuolo have built a reputation as a club that is highly effective at identifying young and promising players, developing them and later selling them for significantly higher fees.

That is precisely the kind of model Juventus want to develop further - finding quality players before their market value reaches tens of millions of euros.

EXPERIENCE ALSO GAINED AT ATALANTA

Cangini’s career does not end with Sassuolo. He previously worked at Bari, Spezia and Atalanta, where he had the opportunity to work alongside Giovanni Sartori. His experience at Atalanta could be particularly valuable, given that the Bergamo club have built one of the most successful scouting and player-development systems in Italian football over the years.

Juventus are therefore not simply looking for another name to add to their office in Continassa, but for someone with experience working in environments known for identifying and developing talent.

JUVENTUS WANT TO FIND PLAYERS BEFORE THE COMPETITION

A change in philosophy could become one of the most important parts of Juventus’ new project. Rather than reacting only once a young player has already made a major breakthrough and reached a price tag of €50, €60 or €70 million, the goal is to identify such players much earlier.

This also fits with the direction Carnevali has been advocating - Juventus need to be capable of recognizing potential before a player’s price becomes

unaffordable. That is why strengthening the scouting department could have a major impact on the club’s future transfer windows.

MONEY IS NOT THE ONLY PART OF THE NEW JUVENTUS

The potential arrival of Cangini comes at a time when there is considerable discussion about Juventus’ financial future and a potential €250 million capital increase. However, the changes in Turin are clearly not expected to stop with greater room for investment. Juventus want to improve the way that money is used - from identifying young players and negotiating deals to developing footballers and eventually integrating them into the first team.

The Next Gen and youth sectors are also expected to play an important role in that structure, giving Juventus the opportunity to guide young players through their development before they are given a chance on the biggest stage.

CARNEVALI IS BUILDING A STRUCTURE FOR THE FUTURE

Cangini’s potential arrival could therefore represent much more than a simple personnel change. Juventus are attempting to build a structure capable of identifying talent earlier, making more precise decisions in the transfer market and reducing the need to spend heavily on players who have already reached their peak market value.

Cangini has not yet been officially appointed and negotiations still need to be followed closely, but if Juventus do decide to bring him to Turin, Carnevali would gain a man with whom he has already worked successfully and who understands the model the new management wants to develop.
