Juventus off to a winning start
Juventus have successfully begun the new Serie A season. Luciano Spalletti's side took all three points from the Benito Stirpe, beating newly promoted Frosinone 1-0.
The scoreline hardly reflects how many chances Juventus created. The Bianconeri controlled the match, especially in the first half, carved out openings and could have settled the contest much earlier.
Spalletti sent out the following eleven from the first minute:
Vicario; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly, Celik - Locatelli, Douglas Luiz, McKennie - Conceicao, Yildiz - Kolo Muani
Kolo Muani an immediate threat
Juventus tried to impose their rhythm from the start. As early as the seventh minute Manuel Locatelli won an important ball deep in Frosinone's half and found Randal Kolo Muani. The Frenchman got his shot away, but Lorenzo Palmisani managed to intervene.
Juventus' pressure kept growing.
In the 17th minute Douglas Luiz delivered an excellent cross and Bremer's header flashed just past the post.
Only two minutes later Juventus wasted an even bigger opportunity: Kolo Muani found himself in a great position but missed the target.
⚽️ Bremer heads in for 1-0!
What he failed to do a few minutes earlier, Bremer managed in the 22nd minute.
Juventus threatened from a set piece again, Francisco Conceicao sent the ball into the box, and Bremer beat Palmisani with a header to make it 1-0.
It was a fully deserved goal after an excellent start to the match. The Brazilian thus opened his new season in the best possible way and ultimately became the man who earned Juventus their first three points.
Juventus could have wrapped it up by half-time
Juventus did not sit back after taking the lead. In the 35th minute Kenan Yildiz picked out Lloyd Kelly with a superb pass, but his left-footed attempt sailed over the bar. An even better chance arrived just before the break. Pierre Kalulu burst forward and shot powerfully, Palmisani intervened and pushed the ball onto the post. Yildiz reacted to the rebound, but the Frosinone goalkeeper made another save. Juventus therefore went into the break just 1-0 up despite creating a stack of chances.
Conceicao gave Frosinone all sorts of problems
The picture on the pitch did not change much at the start of the second half. Juventus immediately went looking for a second goal.
In the 52nd minute Celik released Conceicao with a fine pass; the winger ran into the box and tried a first-time effort, but his shot went over the bar.
The Portuguese was one of Juventus' most dangerous players.
In the 66th minute he troubled the home defence again. Starting from the right, he cut onto his left foot and struck powerfully from around 20 metres, the ball whistling very close to the post.
Kolo Muani missed the chance for 2-0
Juventus had an opportunity to put the game to bed in the closing stages too. Teun Koopmeiners found Kolo Muani right in front of goal, but the Frenchman was just a few centimetres short of connecting with the ball for a second goal.
That meant Frosinone stayed in the game until the very last seconds.
And that is exactly when a moment arrived that could have cost Juventus dearly.
The crossbar saved Juventus in stoppage time
In added time Frosinone had their biggest chance of the match.
Gabriele Calvani's header struck the crossbar, so Juventus avoided an equaliser in the dying moments.
After so many missed chances at the other end, the Bianconeri were left sweating over a win they could have secured much earlier.
Juventus thus open the 2026/27 season exactly as they wanted: with a win!
